These engines are of an extremely robust nature and built to have a very long service life 25,000 between rebuilds. They are also very easy to service with a minimum of tools. Very few special tools are required. Cylinder head maintenance can be done without removing the heads due to the unique nature of horizontal valves and the Clerestory combustion chamber of RN's unique own design.
Engines are in service all over the world, at sea and on inland waterways. Many of these engines have been quietly serving for over 50 years and have stood the test of time.
